Snehan(Medicated Oleation) & Pottali Massage

Snehan and Pottali Massage are two distinct but complementary Ayurvedic therapies used to enhance overall health and address various conditions.

Snehan (Medicated Oleation)

Snehan, or medicated oleation, involves the application of medicated oils or ghee to the body to promote detoxification, nourishment, and balance. It can be applied externally or internally.

Types of Snehan:

  • External Oleation: Medicated oils or ghee are applied to the skin through massage or other methods. This can be done in various forms, including Abhyanga (full-body massage) or localized applications.
  • Internal Oleation: Involves consuming medicated oils or ghee. This is usually done in specific doses as part of a therapeutic regimen.

Benefits of Snehan:

  • Detoxification: Helps in eliminating toxins from the body.
  • Nourishment: Provides essential nutrients to the skin and tissues.
  • Relaxation: Promotes relaxation and reduces stress.
  • Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow and lymphatic drainage.

Pottali Massage

Pottali Massage involves the use of a herbal bolus (pottali) filled with medicated powders or herbs. These pottalis are heated and then applied to the body in a massage technique.

Benefits of Pottali Massage:

  • Pain Relief: Effective in relieving joint pain, muscle stiffness, and chronic aches.
  • Detoxification: Assists in eliminating toxins from the body and reducing inflammation.
  • Improved Mobility: Enhances flexibility and range of motion.
  • Relaxation: Provides deep relaxation and relieves stress.
